The Xi'an office regard this as a great opportunity to showcase British culture and creative industries in China, in what should be the largest heritage park in China/ the world. Since British gardens are regarded as world- famous in terms of design, the office want to include this heritage aspect, which could become a platform for future cultural and commercial collaboration between Britain and China.

The office aims to set up the garden as a symbol of the friendly relations between the UKandChina. We understand that proposals have been put also to the governments of Mexico and Thailand .

Details about the Buyer/Market
Xi’an, called Chang’an in ancient times, was the capital of the Tang Dynasty (perhaps the most prosperous and splendid dynasty in Chinese history, regarded as one of the super- powers of the contemporary world from the 6th to the 9th century). It is also noted as the starting point of the celebrated Silk Road – the bond for international exchanges in culture, trade and politics in ancient times.

The district government, Qujiang New District, plans to build a relic protection and modern entertainment theme park around the relics of the Tang Daming Palace- a key project of the Chinese ‘11th Five Year Plan’ heritage protection strategy and a leading project for the qualification of the Silk Road as a World Cultural Heritage site. The park is estimated to cover 3.2 sq/km, 4.5 times the size of the Forbidden city in Beijing. Opening to the public is planned for1 October 2010. The Chinese government plans to invest a total of RMB140 billion in the project.

The Daming project office aims to set up a relic protection cluster in the park, as well as some symbolic and conceptual display facilities, with environmental and ecology-friendly designs. It also aims to offer an environmental park, relic park, city centre park and also the largest cultural heritage park in the world.

The office would like to begin contacts with interested UK companies in September.
