Event Type Outward Mission
Event Date 23/02/2008 - 08/03/2008

Event Description
Companies are advised of the above event being organised on behalf of UKTI by the Railway Industry Association.

The visit will be in the form of a seminar of presentations in four cities, accompanied by workshops and/or meetings with relevant Ministries and railway organisations. The title of the seminars will be 'Railway Asset Management and Renewal', chosen to encompass a wide range of activities in which UK companies can properly claim special skill. The seminars and the meetings will cover both mainline railways and metros. There will also be other networking opportunities in each destination, funded by UKTI.

We are pleased to report that senior representatives from both the Department for Transport and Network Rail will accompany the mission.

Programme
The outline programme is:
23/24 Feb Travel out to Taiwan
25/26 Feb Taipei
27 Feb Transfer to Mainland China
28/29 Feb Beijing
1/2 Mar Transfer Shanghai
3/4 Mar Seminar/visits Shanghai
5/6 Mar Seminar/visits Guangzhou
7/8 Mar Return UK via Hong Kong

Further Information
Given the level of involvement from DfT and Network Rail, company representation should be at as senior a level as possible.

RIA now needs to know which companies are wishing to participate, both for planning purposes and in considering how many other companies we can accommodate. RIA also needs to know what subject you would wish to cover under the theme of Asset Management and Renewal. Additionally, RIA are aware of potential logistics issues on the long-haul flights to/from UK and so early commitment will ensure that suitable travel arrangements can be arranged.

Ideally companies should participate throughout the whole programme, as all four destinations are important markets. If however you know now that you would not wish to visit one or more of the destinations, please let us know. Companies interested in taking part should respond via email to Tim Gray at RIA tgray@riagb.org.uk as early as possible, such that detailed arrangements can be confirmed very soon after the Christmas break.
