Event Type Outward Mission
Event Date 10/01/2009 - 20/01/2009
Registration Cut-Off Date 24/10/2008

Background
China has sustained explosive economic expansion - from 1979 to 2007, the economy grew at an average annual rate of 9.6%. This unrelenting growth will continue to create personal wealth, fuel economic development, and attract multinationals, which in turn will lead to greater demand for financial services. During the period between 2004 and 2010 China is expected to generate c.$130bn - more than one quarter of the increase in annual global banking revenues.*

There is increasing demand amongst ambitious UK fi nancial services companies, accountancy and law fi rms to access the second tier Chinese markets beyond Beijing and Shanghai. Thirteen of China’s second-tier cities account for 8% of China’s population but 53% of its total imports – which is why the
untapped markets of China’s second-tier cities provide some of the most exciting and lucrative opportunities for UK exporters.

Join UK Trade & Investment and high growth, mid-sized London fi nancial, accountancy and legal services companies on a market visit to these important cities, where you will have the opportunity to make valuable contacts, form new partnerships and witness the opportunities for yourself. We will also visit
Shanghai to allow delegates to experience larger market opportunities and there will be an optional visit to Hong Kong at the beginning of the trip.

Who should participate?
This visit has been designed for Financial and Legal Services sector businesses who wish to learn more about opportunities, and how to exploit them, in Hong Kong, Shanghai and the second tier cities of Shenzhen and Hangzhou.
