Exploring Opportunities for UK companies in Wuhan and Xi’an
Advanced engineering, transport, construction and financial services mission
Date: March 15-17th, 2010

Alastair Morgan, Director of Trade & Investment for China, warmly welcomes you to join a mission to Xi’an and Wuhan, focusing on the advanced engineering, transportation, construction and financial services sectors.

Organised by UK Trade & Investment and the China-Britain Business Council, the mission will visit Xi’an from 15-16th March and Wuhan from 16-17th March 2010. Your participation in the mission will give you:
• High level meetings: this mission will provide you access to senior representatives in city and provincial
government and meetings with the local department of commerce which will be of direct benefit to you in
developing your business.
• Tailored business meetings: at business to business events where you will meet appropriate counterparts
to develop your business in Xi’an and Wuhan. The China-Britain Business Council will work closely with the
local government in order to find counterparts tailored to your objectives. If you have specific companies or
organisations you would like to meet, we will do our best to assist you to do so.
• Knowledge about specific opportunities: visiting the cities allows you to further understand Wuhan and
Xi’an’s upcoming development plans, and how your company can get involved.

This mission is offered as part of UK Trade & Investment’s OMIS programme. Cost for joining the mission in one city is £250, and £500 to join in both cities. This cost is inclusive of all events, official meals, transport by coach within Xi’an and Wuhan, business matching and an optional pre-departure briefing in Beijing.

Participants are responsible for their own flights and hotel costs (a preferential hotel rate will be offered in each city).

Draft Programme:
Monday 15th March: full day in Xi’an
• Briefing by Xi’an Department of Commerce and Development and Reform Commission
• Meeting with a senior representative of Shaanxi Provincial Government
• Meeting with a senior representative of Xi’an Municipal Government
• Business 2 business event: tailored one-on-one meetings with Xi’an/Shaanxi companies
• Evening networking event, inviting locally based UK companies

Tuesday 16th March: morning in Xi’an, afternoon in Wuhan
• Optional meetings with local government departments, including the transportation department and financial affairs office
• 1355: Suggested flight to Wuhan (1500 arrival)
• Briefing by Wuhan Department of Commerce and Development and Reform Commission
• Meeting with a senior representative of Hubei Provincial Government

Wednesday 17th March: full day in Wuhan
• Optional meetings with local government departments, including the transportation department and financial affairs office
• Meeting with a senior representative of Wuhan Municipal Government
• Business 2 business event: tailored one-on-one
meetings with Wuhan/Hubei companies
• Evening networking event, inviting locally
based UK companies
• Programme ends
