China’s low cost base has been well recognised and has led most manufacturers to consider establishing operations there, particularly if they are serving fiercely competitive world markets.
Making the decision to go to China is not easy, however, and number-crunching plays an important
part in determining the desirability and feasibility of market entry.

Further Information
How low is the cost of labour once employer’s contributions are taken into account? Are locally sourced raw materials and other inputs really cost effective? How much is it to rent or buy a factory? To what extent can such variables differ from place to place? What about cost rises? Do these and other considerations make manufacturing in China worthwhile?
Following on from its successful series of activities on location selection, China-Britain Business Council presents a workshop which takes the cost issue by the scruff of its neck, inviting Ian V Hughes of Join and Succeed Consulting Company to share his expertise in generating the necessary cost comparisons for internal feasibility studies and BDO Stoy Hayward LLP to provide an up-date on how recently announced changes in taxation policies will influence the attractiveness of China as a low cost manufacturing location.
In addition, a case study will demonstrate how manufacturing in China need not necessarily mean the end of manufacturing in the UK, but can help a company internationalise and access new markets via a lower cost supply chain.
