Business Language Champions
•Do you or your staff use foreign languages in your day to day work?
•Would you like the chance to inspire the students in your local school?
A new exciting project from the Regional Language Network is running and needs local businesses to get involved.
We would like volunteers to help us with our Business Language Champions project, a project designed to show school children the relevance of languages in today’s globalised society.
• What does it involve?
You can give as much or as little time to the project as you like. To kick off we are organising a half day event for schools and businesses in mid November. We are also keen to encourage ongoing 'partnerships' between businesses and their local schools - but we also welcome ideas and suggestions from all sides as to how each could benefit from the project and help take it forward.
• What’s in it for the schools?
They get a chance to breathe life into their language lessons and give their students a real insight into how invaluable languages are in the world of work today.
• What’s in it for the businesses?
You get a chance to escape from the office and return (albeit briefly!) to the world of study, helping to inform the choices that GCSE and A level students are making.
You also get the chance to do some outreach work in your local community and benefit from the great PR that this will bring!
