Chongqing SANFENG Environment industry Co., Ltd was established in 1998 with the resgistered capital of RMB 80 million. It is a subsidiary of Chongqing Iron & Steel Group(CIS) and mainly specializes in environmental pollution control in solid waste, waste gas and wastewater field.

With CISs comprehensive background and national loan support, SANFENG introduced Martin waste incineration and flue gas cleaning technology and established waste incinerator localization base. It is a leading company of solid waste treatment appointed by Chongqing government. SANFENG invested and constructed the first BOT mode waste-to-energy plant in Chongqing. The successful investment, construction and operation of this national loan model project has developed and established a new mode in China to reach Harmlessness, Recycle and Improvement in the waste treatment.

With so many years development, SANFENG has enjoyed a big professional team of many talents and been awarded a number of professional certificates issued by Ministry of Construction and State Environment Protection Administration, which including A-class design (solid waste) certificate.

In April 2007, CIS has signed an agreement with US Covanta Energy Group Inc to form a joint venture named Chongqing Sanfeng Covanta Environment Industry Com where CIS holding 60% share while Covanta holding 40%. It is expected that the sales of the JV will be up to RMB 2 billion (£140million )
