			<title>East Midlands China Business Bureau - Closure</title>
			<description><![CDATA[<p>You may be aware that the Government has announced that Regional Development Agencies, including the East Midlands Development Agency (<em>emda</em>), will be closing next year. Against this background, we are unable to continue funding for our East Midlands China Business Bureau, and the bureau&rsquo;s activities will therefore be stopping at the end of September 2011. We would like to put on record our thanks to all our clients and Partners for their invaluable support and we wish you all the very best for the future.</p><p>As you will be aware, two of our key partners are China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) and UK Trade &amp; Investment (UKTI) East Midlands. While the China Bureau will no longer be available, both CBBC and UKTI are working to ensure that there will continue to be a dedicated, specialist China business resource in the East Midlands. <strong>More information on this will be available shortly, so please check the website for updates. </strong>To ensure that you remain informed about the latest opportunities in China, inward missions, events and to receive business advice we would like to encourage you to register with CBBC. 			<description><![CDATA[<p>The EU-China Business &amp; Technology Cooperation Fair (hereinafter referred to as &ldquo;the Fair&rdquo;) was held for 5 years and it has already become the biggest investment, trade and technology cooperation platform between the EU and China with largest number of EU participating companies.</p><p>The sixth Fair is focus on in the sectors of bio-pharmaceutical, new energy and IT industry. 			<title>Southwest China – Automotive, Aerospace and Engineering Workshop</title>
			<description><![CDATA[<p><strong>January 19<sup>th</sup> 2011, 0915 &ndash; 1300 </strong></p><p>East Midlands Development Agency, Apex Court,</p><p>City Link, Nottingham, NG2 4LA</p><p><strong>Chrys Shen</strong>, Trade &amp; Investment Officer, UK Trade and Investment, Southwest China (Advanced Engineering sector, including engineering, automotive and aerospace)</p><p>Chrys joined UKTI in January 2008, looking after the Advanced Engineering sector, including engineering, automotive and aerospace sectors in Southwest China, i.e. Chongqing Municipality and the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. Her role is to help UK companies to develop and expand in this region by providing support in market access, trade promotion and technology cooperation etc.</p><p><strong>Southwest China</strong></p><p><em>Chongqing</em> is traditionally an industrial city with a complete range of industries with the automotive industry being the pillar industry. It is China&rsquo;s No. 1 in motorcycle manufacturing and No.4 in automotive manufacture ring, and has been actively promoting international cooperation. <em>Sichuan Province</em> is strong in aerospace sector, and its capital city Chengdu is one of the 4 aviation bases in China. The existing cooperation includes that with RR and Airbus. <em>Guizhou Province</em> also has a cluster of aero and auto industries.</p>]]></description>

			<title>UK-China Trade &#038; Economic Forum: Partners for Growth</title>
			<description><![CDATA[<p>To coincide with a high level Chinese delegation visit to the UK, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the Department for Business Innovation &amp; Skills (BIS), UK Trade &amp; Investment (UKTI), the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) are organising a UK-China Trade and Economic Forum: <strong>Partners for Growth,</strong> to explore the ways in which UK and Chinese businesses can work more closely together and secure new commercial opportunities.</p><p>The Forum will be a prime event to network with Chinese dignitaries and senior Chinese business representatives. The programme will include speakers at the highest level from both the UK and Chinese governments, as well as the respective business communities. 			<title>New agreement set to increase trade between Chinese and East Midlands businesses</title>
			<description><![CDATA[<p>An economic partnership agreement has been signed between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce (DNCC), and representatives from the Yangquan region of China.</p>
<p>The agreement came about as a result of a China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) delegation visit to Chesterfield earlier this year.</p>
<p>The East Midlands China Business Bureau, which is part of East Midlands Development Agency (<em>emda</em>), has played a key role in making the arrangements for the visit, helping in discussions between DNCC and Yangquan, and providing translation services.</p>]]></description>

			<title>Prince of Gymnastics visited East Midlands Universities</title>
			<description><![CDATA[<p>Dr Li Ning, &lsquo;Prince of Gymnastics&rsquo; who won 6 medals at the 1984 Olympics including 3 gold medals recently visited two leading universities in the East Midlands on 11<sup>th</sup> March. </p>
<p>Facilitated by East Midlands China Business Bureau, East Midlands Development Agency <em><em>(emda)</em></em> and UKTI , Dr Li Ning paid a visit to both Loughborough University and Nottingham Trent University to explore collaborative projects for his company&rsquo;s sporting apparel and equipment.</p>
<p>On the morning of March 11<sup>th</sup>, Dr Li Ning visited the Sports Technology Instituted at Loughborough University, where Dr Li received his honorary Doctorate degree in 2005. The STI is a &pound;15million initiative in partnership with <em><em>emda</em></em> to boost research and enterprise in the sporting goods sector. According to the Institute, it is home to the world's largest university-based research group in this field and brings together some of the country&rsquo;s top researchers and the world&rsquo;s leading sporting goods brands, working on the design, simulation, testing and manufacture of cutting edge sports equipment. During the visit, Dr Li was shown a range of the Institute&rsquo;s advanced sports testing equipment including golf robots and machines developed to test athletic performance footwear.</p>
<p>Dr Li then visited Nottingham Trent University in the afternoon, where he met with professors and research staff from both the School of Science and Technology and the School of Art and Design. During the visit, Dr Li was shown facilities to test athlete&rsquo;s performance and research capabilities of both schools.</p>
<p>Dr Li was very pleased with visits to both Universities and was impressed by their capabilities in potential collaborative projects. Both universities are now actively following up the communication with Dr Li Ning.</p>]]></description>
