In 2006, the EU continued to be China's largest business partner and the volume of bilateral trade between the EU and China hit US$272.3 billion.

In order to promote cooperation between Sichuan Province and the EU Member States, help EU enterprises to establish long-term partnership with Sichuan enterprises, as well as improve the internationalization process of Sichuan enterprises, EU Project Incubation Centre (Chengdu) is organizing the 'EU-Chengdu SMEs Business Matchmaking & Cooperation Incubation Event' on 8th -9th November 2007.

The Event will offer a face-to-face communication platform for enterprises from 8 EU Member States (Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, UK) and enterprises from Sichuan Province. The targeted industry sectors are IT, Machinery, Building Material and Environmental Protection. The Event covers major aspects of business partnerships such as trade, investment, agency, distribution, joint production, technology transfer, product and service subcontracting, etc.
