As China continues to be one of the world’s largest recipients of foreign investment, one major incentive for investing in China is low cost labour. Chinese employees are attracted by the salaries, benefits and prestige of working for foreign-invested companies. However, understanding the process of employing Chinese staff, and the responsibilities thereafter, is vital.
This briefing will enable you to gain a clear and practical understanding of employing staff for a Chinese enterprise:
· Identifying and advertising key posts – what skills and experience might be available and at what salary range; using agencies; advertising for staff
· Keeping and releasing employees: your responsibilities as an employer; employment contracts; working hours and holidays; incentives; disputes; disciplinary action; retaining staff; terminating employment
