Healthplex Expo is co-organized by Trade Development Bureau, Ministry of Commerce of P.R.China and China Chamber of Commerce of Medicines and Health Products Importers and Exporters.

Worldwide demand for natural medicines and nutraceuticals is forecast to increase 10 percent annually to US $9.6bn in 2008. Herbal and non-herbal extracts post the strongest growth as compounds, and functional additives also fare well in the marketplace, based on health benefits and broad adaptability to fortified foods and beverages, specialty nutritionals and dietary supplements,etc.

Against this backdrop, China's nutraceutical industry has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years and will become one of the largest nutraceutical markets in the world in the near future. With the improvement of productivity, expansion of its research and development and increase in consumption, China's nutraceutical industry is certain to catch up with developed countries before long.
