The project will support the western corridor development by building an important section connecting Wuding and Kunming.

The project include:

1. constructing an expressway across mostly mountainous terrain;

2. improving local roads and passenger transport stations, servicing poor counties and townships

3. providing consulting services and training to enhance capacity of the executing agency and domestic consultants for project management, construction quality, road safety, and project monitoring and evaluation
