BRITISH INTER-UNIVERSITY CHINA CENTRE LAUNCH CONFERENCE

The British Inter-university China Centre (BICC) is holding its inaugural conference on 27-29 June 2007, with a launch event in London on 27 June followed by series of 5 academic workshops, and a language learning workshop in Oxford. BICC, inaugurated in October 2006, is a collaboration between Oxford, Bristol, and Manchester Universities. BICC has been awarded a grant of £5m from the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of the UK government’s Language-Based Area Studies Initiative. This conference will set the direction of BICC’s research for the following years.
