Basic Education
- 22328 primary schools with 6.612 million students enrolled
- 99.09 percent of the children for the ages of 6 to 12 are enrolled in primary schools; 96.44 percent continue to junior high schools
- 3820 high schools with 4.283 million students enrolled, among which 3.383 million are junior high school students
- 92.52 percent of the children from 13 to 15 years are enrolled in junior high school, 45.07 percent of them continue their schooling in senior high schools

Higher Education
- 73 universities and colleges
- Enrolment: 410,000
- Diploma and degrees through the examination for self-taught students: 25000
Vocational and technical education
It has been promoted as an addition to high school education and serve demands of local economic development.
- 769 intermediate vocational schools with an enrolment of 632 thousand
- 10 percent of intermediate vocational school graduates are able to continue their studying in higher education institutions
Adult Education
The government aims to provide educational services and lifelong learning opportunities for the general public in a learner-friendly manner
- 17 institutions offer graduate programs
- 9840 graduate students
- 3 national-level and 16 provincial-level key laboratories
