Basic Education

21180 kindergartens, primary and high schools with 11.15 million students enrolled

99.14 percent of the children for the ages of 6 to 12 are enrolled in primary schools. 96.26 percent complete primary education and 97.2 percent continue to junior high schools
99.14 percent from 13 to 15 years are enrolled in junior high schools

In the southern part of Jiangsu, universal 12-year compulsory education has been practiced with 90 percent of the graduates from junior high schools enrolled by senior high schools

Higher Education

Jiangsu has the largest number of institutions of higher learning with an annual enrolment of 15 percent of the proper age group
